Inspired by an ancient stone sculpture depicting the battle between Trentren Vilu and Caicai Vilu, two mythological snakes representing land and sea. It is said that Caiai was enraged by mankinds ungratefulness towards the sea and desired to punish humanity by creating a great flood, to bring all terrestrial life under water. Trentren saw that humans were desperate and decided to help, ordering the mountains to rise taller as a way to espace the flood. The ones that got trapped by water she transformed into birds and mermaids in order for them to survive. The battle is believed to have created the unique archipelago and mountains of southern Chile.
